The verdict  of Imam al-Mahdi Nasser Muhammad Al-Yemani for a young man to date a young woman whom he wants to be engaged to, but there is a caveat.

In the name of Allah The Overwhelming Merciful, The Continually  Rewarding Merciful. Prayers and peace on  all of the advocates of The Overwhelming Merciful from mankind and Jinn, their prophets, their good family, and the followers of truth ‘til judgment day.

That being said,

I stumbled upon one of my beloved proponents asking (me) a question: How is it possible for a young man to fall in love with a young woman, so as to be able to ask for marrying her from her father?

We then reply to him with the rightful answer and say:

Allah has permitted you to make an innuendo-invitation to have a date with whom you want to be engaged, before your engagement; therein Allah might bring their hearts together and cause them to have affection and mercy. Then, he can go about proposing for their engagement.  But the caveat is not to meet her secretly; instead they must have a third person (chaperone); unless he is going to talk in an acceptable manner and is not going to solicit the despicable act (sex outside wedlock).

This was the permit for dating the one who want to be engaged to before the engagement happen, This permit is found in Allah The Most high saying:  

 {There is no blame upon you for that to which you [indirectly] allude concerning a proposal to women or for what you conceal within yourselves. Allah knows that you will have them in mind. But do not meet them secretly except for saying a proper saying. And do not determine to undertake a marriage contract until the decreed period reaches its end (for a divorced woman or a widow). And know that Allah knows what is within yourselves, so beware of Him. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.

فتوى الإمام المهديّ ناصر محمد اليماني برؤية الفتى للفتاة التي يريد خطبتها؛ ولكن بشرط ..

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، والصّلاة والسلام على كافة أولياء الرحمن في الإنس والجانّ وعلى أنبيائِهم وآلهم الطّيبين والتّابعين الحقّ إلى يوم الدّين، أمّا بعد..

وإنّي أجد أحد أحبتي الأنصار يسأل: فكيف يحبّ الفتى الفتاة حتى يطلبها من أبيها للزواج؟ ومن ثمّ نردّ عليه الحقّ ونقول:

لقد سمح الله لكم بالتعرض لرؤية من تريد خطبتها من قبل أن تخطبها لعلّ الله يؤلّف بين قلوبكم ويجعل بينكم مودةً ورحمةً، ومن ثم يتقدّم لخطبتها بشرط أنْ لا يواعدها سِرّاً بل يكون معهما أحداً ثالثاً إلا أن يقول قولاً معروفاً ولن يطلب منها الفاحشة.

وذلك تصريح المقابلة لمن تريد خطبتها من قبل الخطوبة وتجدونه في قول الله تعالى: {وَلاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا عَرَّضْتُم بِهِ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ النِّسَاء أَوْ أَكْنَنتُمْ فِي أَنفُسِكُمْ عَلِمَ اللّهُ أَنَّكُمْ سَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّ وَلَـكِن لاَّ تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ سِرّاً إِلاَّ أَن تَقُولُواْ قَوْلاً مَّعْرُوفاً وَلاَ تَعْزِمُواْ عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتَّىَ يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي أَنفُسِكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ(235)} صدق الله العظيم [البقرة
